As a response to police clampdown on a press briefing organized by a
coalition of opposition parties in Yaounde Tuesday, four of the
political parties whose militants were battered by security men, have
called on Cameroonians to embark on a six-day nationwide protest
beginning Monday.
The protest which ends on Saturday 9
April is expected to paralyze public activity in major towns and cities
across the national territory.
The opposition quartet, which
includes, the Cameroon People’s Party, CPP, of Edith Kah Walla, the
Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC, of Maurice Kamto, the Universe Party
of Hon. Nkou Mvondo and the UPC, says the protest is aimed at rallying
the masses against any possible amendment of the constitution with the
intention of giving President Biya the green light to call presidential
polls before 2018. |
